Hair Jewelry!

My Maui said I needed some hair jewelry to keep my hair out of my eyes since it is growing so long. This is what Mommy came up with. She says it's hard because I have such fine hair.

Mackinac 2

Daddy took this pretty picture. You can see the steeple of St. Anne's rising up above the rooftops.
This is the Little Stone Church. We worshipped there on Sunday morning. Every year the congregation of this church gives a generous scholarship to one of the Mackinac Island school's graduates. They fund the program through funds collected from the many weddings they host each year. It costs $2000 for a 20 minute ceremony at this quaint church which was built in the late 1800's.
This is the parsonage where the minister who serves at The Little Stone Church lives while he's on the Island in the summer. I'm not sure where he goes on winter vacation but it sounds like a nice job to me...preach only 6 months a year. Maybe Grandpa can get a gig like that and then he can come to visit me more!
If you stay at The Grand Hotel then you can ride in this fancy carriage. It meets the ferries upon arrival and delivers guests to the hotel for check in. At the end of your stay it delivers you back to the dock. The drivers are rather snoody and if you smile at them or wave they will just ignore you.
I have no idea why Mommy is making such a silly looking face but the background is Arch Rock.
This house sits right off the green of Marquette Park. Mommy thought the trees and the fog made a beautiful backdrop.
St. Anne's Catholic Church is one of 4 churches on Mackinac Island.
This is the lookout tower at Fort Mackinac.
The statue of Father Marquette is a funny one because the artist used his own face. Apparently nobody knew what Father Marquette looked like at the time that the statue was made.
When we came back to Michigan's mainland we rode on the top of the boat where the wind could blow on us. It was fun but very sunny! All day long there had been mist in the air and it was hard to see because the clouds touched the ground but as soon as we were back on the open water it was clear. Mommy looked back to see the island but it was completely hidden in the fog.

Mackinac Island

The public telephone near Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel
Here come the horsies...
The Fort that the British built
One of the only 4 National cemetaries to have the distinction of having a flag fly at 1/2 staff all the time. Do you know the others? Gettysberg, Arlington, and Pearl Harbor
Me and Mommy at Arch Rock
All tuckered out! I'm sleeping through dinner!
Carla checks out one of the Grand Hotel's flowerbeds
Daddy always buys Mommy a rose from this flower shop when they visit Mackinac Island

Me being silly on the ferry over to the island
These horses have been standing still so long that things started growing on them!!!!!!!!
What a beautiful fountain. Mommy says she'd like to just sit there to read a book all day!
The Grand Hotel's famous porch
More flowers

My trip to the UP!

Me and Mommy standing on the old pier in Lake Superior at Whitefish Point
Carla is yelling because the water in Lake Superior is SO COLD!
Me and Mommy resting on driftwood
If you look really close you'll see two freighters passing in the fog
Daddy shows me a fancy leaf he found
Isn't this tree beautiful? It's in Tahquamenon State Park.
Mike Hansen, Mommy, Me, and Carla Hansen
I like da UP, eh!
What a silly guy! Mike was one of Daddy's housemates at GC. They came to travel with us.

This is Tahquamenon Falls. Mommy really likes to visit here. It was noisy from all the water spilling into the river.
I'm a happy girl.
Next week is Carla and Mike's 5th Wedding Anniversary!
This is another part of the falls. Isn't it pretty?

Boxes are neat

This is my birdbath. I like it.
This box was a fun place to play...
And if you get hungry you can just have a nibble...
Plenty of room for fun!
I think I can help Mommy better if I'm IN the dishwasher!
Look at me! I'm a big girl helping in the kitchen!
